An internal review by the National Archives Authentication Team (NAAT) flagged these records in 2024:
- Oswald Mexico City consulate log – altered time stamp
- FBI memo linking Oswald to “pro-Castro literature” – typed on 1965 bond paper
- DPD chain-of-custody report for the rifle – has a font not available until 1964
The most damning: a Secret Service memo referencing Oswald’s mental state, dated October 1963, was traced to a typewriter model released in 1964.

Document analysts in 2025 used high-resolution scans to identify the origin of certain typefaces.
- “Courier Elite Narrow” used in three “1963” memos?
→ Not commercially available until 1965. - Paper grain and chemical residue matched Langley stock room inventory dated March 1964.
These falsified documents were quietly entered into the Warren Commission archive in mid-1964 under “supplemental clarification.”

One 2025 release shows a CIA Office of Security memo alleging Oswald had a psychiatric breakdown in Minsk in 1960. The document was used to frame Oswald as unstable.
The memo was accepted at face value in the 1960s.
But the original carbon copy-released now-shows different phrasing and no mention of psychiatric issues.
The phrase “emotionally erratic” was added.
The original reads only: “resident reported withdrawn and quiet.”
